Seiko celebrates its 145th anniversary with a collection of limited-edition watches inspired by Edo purple, a traditional Japanese color that reflects Tokyo's rich cultural heritage. The collection brings together historical inspiration, contemporary design, and the brand's longstanding commitment to watchmaking innovation.
Seiko's story began in 1881 when founder Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in Tokyo's Ginza district dedicated to selling and repairing timepieces. Over the decades, the company has developed watches that reflect Japan's evolving culture, craftsmanship, and technological progress.
During the Edo period, from 1603 to 1868, distinctive colors became an important part of Japanese cultural expression. Edo purple emerged as a shade associated with the character and aesthetic sensibilities of the period. Seiko now revisits this historic color through a series of anniversary watches that connect traditional Japanese design with modern watchmaking.
Gold-colored accents appear throughout the collection, adding warmth and elegance while symbolizing Seiko's continued pursuit of beauty and innovation.

The new Prospex Alpinist draws inspiration from the original Seiko Laurel Alpinist, introduced in 1959 as a watch designed for outdoor sports enthusiasts. The anniversary edition combines the collection's adventurous heritage with an elegant Edo purple dial.

Wedge-shaped hour markers and Arabic numerals provide clear readability. The original Alpinist logo is reinterpreted beneath the Seiko logo at the 12 o'clock position, while purple stitching on the leather strap complements the dial. Gold-colored accents on the logo and seconds hand add a refined finishing touch.
The watch is powered by the automatic Caliber 6R55 movement, offering approximately 72 hours of power reserve. Its stainless-steel case, sapphire crystal, rotating compass inner ring, and 20-bar water resistance make it suitable for outdoor adventures.

The Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph celebrates Seiko's legacy of precision sports timing, drawing inspiration from iconic Speedtimer models of the 1960s and 1970s.
Its deep purple dial features a subtle translucent appearance with highlights reminiscent of scattered gold flakes. Purple accents extend to the aluminum tachymeter bezel insert, while gold-colored details on the logo and GMT hand create a distinctive visual contrast.
The watch uses the solar-powered Caliber V192 movement and features a power reserve indicator, a 24-hour hand, and chronograph functionality. Its stainless-steel case and bracelet combine practical performance with a bold anniversary design.

The Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph brings the Edo purple theme to Seiko's advanced GPS solar watchmaking technology. The design combines a purple-inspired dial with gold-colored accents, creating a distinctive appearance that reflects the anniversary collection's Japanese heritage.
Powered by Caliber 5X83, the watch offers GPS-controlled time and time-zone adjustment, dual-time display, chronograph functionality, and a perpetual calendar. It also features world time across 38 time zones and automatic daylight saving time adjustment.
The titanium case and bracelet feature a super-hard coating, while the ceramic and titanium bezel adds a modern touch. The watch offers 10-bar water resistance and is limited to 2,000 pieces worldwide.

The Presage Cocktail Time anniversary model interprets Edo purple through the collection's signature radial-patterned dial. Its color is inspired by the Edo Murasaki cocktail, created in collaboration with Hisashi Kishi, owner of STAR BAR.
The dial's radial texture creates depth and changing reflections under different lighting conditions. Gold-colored details on the Seiko logo and GMT hand complement the purple dial, giving the watch an elegant appearance.
The model is powered by the automatic Caliber 4R34 movement, which provides a GMT function and an approximately 41-hour power reserve. Its stainless-steel case and bracelet, box-shaped Hardlex crystal, and transparent case back complete the design.

The Seiko 5 Sports anniversary model reinterprets the popular SKX design with an Edo purple dial and gold-colored accents. The combination maintains the collection's sporty character while introducing a more distinctive and refined appearance.
Vertically striated hour markers and a glossy Hardlex bezel enhance the watch's visual details. The model is powered by the automatic Caliber 4R36 movement, offering approximately 41 hours of power reserve, day-and-date functionality, and 10-bar water resistance.

The final model in the anniversary collection revisits the distinctive digital watch design known among enthusiasts as the Rotocall, first introduced in 1982 and recreated in 2025.
The original design became known for its rotary switch, which allowed users to access functions such as the alarm, timer, and stopwatch by rotating the bezel. The anniversary edition retains this recognizable feature while introducing a purple rotary switch against an all-black case and bracelet.
Gold-colored accents on the Seiko logo and function indicators complement the design. The digital watch offers multiple practical functions, including a chronograph, alarm, timer, dual-time display, and internal LED illumination.
